View from our window, 41 Stanhope Gardens, 1975.

In 1975 Enamorata and Enamorato spent a year in London, totally enamoured, each of the other. And in the midst of it all, death flew suddenly down from the heavens on its iron wings to announce the death of a friend in Winnipeg, a lovely man, a near-blind musician, who at forty seemed to so old to them and who had lived all his adult life in the sight of death. They left their flat at Stanhope Gardens and walked for four hours, out past Hampstead and back, as a way of taking solace.  It was an event that stayed with them for the rest of the year and bound them even closer together, as Death always does.
