My most vivid memory of Mexico City is a street from Carlos Fuentes' novella Aura. It's a narrow 18th Century Street with high walls and hidden gardens and no sunlight. And it's here, in its unwholesome light, that the young historian, answering a want ad, finds a small door in a large expanse of wall beyond which he will meet himself and lose himself irretrievably.
